We welcome volunteers from all walks of life. Some of our volunteers want to strengthen their cv as part of their job-search, some are on secondment, others are looking for something useful to do with their free time or just wishing to get out and meet others. By being part of a local organisation, you can make a real difference to the environment and other people’s lives.
We have plenty of volunteering opportunities, no matter what your skill or ability - including administration, helping crew our canal boat, assisting in the Colne Valley Visitor Centre, weeding the horticultural therapy flower garden, and so on.
Some volunteer posts are advertised on our Jobs page, or you could contact us now to
see what else is available.
We value the goodwill and hard work of about 140
regular volunteers. We place a strong emphasis on supporting
short and long term volunteers – who are vital to the
sustainability of the organisation.
We recognise that volunteering is a two-way relationship: we
provide support and training to ensure you have the skills you
need. Our management structures and processes follow best practice
to monitor, reflect and enhance volunteering within
Groundwork.
Corporate volunteering
We also offer corporate volunteering opportunities. These
generally consist of team-building activities based around
environmental improvements, and of course include a relaxing
wind-down session. Corporate volunteering is an excellent way
to promote your company to the wider community and support a range
of projects that just wouldn’t be possible without a
volunteer workforce. Whether you’re a group of 5 or
500, we can offer a varied and enjoyable range of activities that
will bond your team through the collective achievement of something
that really does made a difference.
