We believe that
everyone, no matter what their age or ability, should have access
to learning and nature. That’s why we have
years of experience in offering a range of
activities for groups and individuals with special educational
needs.
At Iver Nature Study
Centre near Uxbridge, our qualified and experienced
Horticultural Therapist runs Horticultural Therapy
courses with specialised activities for people with special
needs, helping them increase their physical, psychological and
social skills.
People currently taking part in the project are those with learning
difficulties, physical disabilities, mental health problems and
sensory disabilities. Emphasis is placed on catering for individual
needs. Participants are encouraged to try different activities
within the scope of their abilities to maximise their sense of
achievement.
Our facilities are designed to enable people of all abilities to
take part and include wheelchair ramps, raised flower-beds
and a sensory garden.
As well as horticultural therapy, we also run trips onboard the
'Elsdale' canal-boat, which is fully
accessible for those in wheelchairs and has special
viewing platforms.
