Parks & Play
Reconnecting people with their surroundings
Our landscape team, comprising chartered and associate landscape
architects, plays an integral role in the delivery of successful
sustainable projects. The team works closely with the community and
business teams to develop practical and cost-effective solutions to
a wide range of environmental issues in town, urban fringe and
rural locations. We also provide landscape consultancy services to
local authorities, housing associations, community groups and other
organisations.
Our services include:
- Community Consultation
Landscape
architects work alongside area-based community teams to provide
specialist and technical support. We use design and participation
techniques to help enable local people to identify and visualise
physical improvement opportunities in their neighbourhood and can
significantly increase the success of a scheme.
- Feasibility Studies and Environmental
Audits
In parallel with community consultation, the
landscape team can carry out comprehensive environmental surveys
that identify, analyse and prioritise environmental
improvements.
- Landscape Design
The team’s
knowledge and experience is used to understand and address site
problems and find viable solutions. These are presented in plans
and sketches which are used and amended throughout the course of a
project to help incorporate ideas from partners and clients. This
helps to involve an increasing number of local people to make
informed decisions about how a project should develop.
- Contract Administration and
Implementation
When designs have been agreed by the
project partners, the landscape team consider how the designs
become reality. A contract is chosen through a formal tendering
process, and the design is built under the supervision of the
Groundwork Thames Valley team. Where possible we look for
opportunities for community groups and volunteers to assist with
implementation, through planting events and simple construction
projects.
