Take a leisurely
cruise along the Grand Union Canal in our silent electric barge,
Elsdale or picnic next to the River Misbourne, a crystal-clear
chalk-stream. We offer a range of community group activities
that can be as challenging or relaxing as you like and are suitable
for all ages and abilities. Whether you’re a group of 5
or 50, our activities are both stimulating and
educational.
Charter the
canal-boat 'Elsdale' for a four-hour cruise that takes you through
the historic Cowley lock and into the Country Park. Enjoy a summer
buffet and glass of wine on the open deck as we pass the brightly
coloured narrow boats and marvel at the engineering skills that
over 200 years ago built this canal with just shovels and
sweat.
Try your hand at
water-colour painting in the grass meadows next to the River Colne,
you don’t have to be a budding Constable to enjoy a tutored
art lesson. We’ll provide all the materials and a
picnic hamper, and if the weather isn’t suitable for sitting
out in the park, then the scenery from our covered veranda provides
the perfect vista.
Looking to stage a
fundraising event with a difference? We can provide a range of
activities or venues to ensure a memorable and profitable
occasion. For example a local hospice recently hired the
Elsdale (at reduced rates) for an afternoon cruise, selling
tickets, food and a raffle; they raised more than £1000 and
enjoyed a great day out on the boat.
